Target Information
ORM1 (Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein) is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells and, together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, controls cell extravasation during infection and inflammation. ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant in both human and rat. In human plasma, ORM1 (44 kDa) is present at 0.5–1.4 mg/mL and increases during acute inflammation such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, surgery, or chronic pain. It is used as a marker for inflammatory conditions.
