Target Information

RET is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It plays a key role in neural crest development and can become oncogenically activated through cytogenetic rearrangement. RET mediates cell growth and differentiation signals.
Mutations in the RET gene are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia types IIA and IIB, Hirschsprung disease, and medullary thyroid carcinoma.
Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified, with additional variants described but not biologically validated.
