Target Information
Metallothioneins (MTs)는 낮은 분자량의 중금속 결합 단백질 군으로, 높은 시스테인 함량과 방향족 아미노산의 결여가 특징입니다.
MTs는 단백질 분자당 7~12개의 중금속 원자를 결합하며, 동식물 및 원핵생물에 널리 존재합니다.
포유류에서는 시스테인 잔기가 절대적으로 보존되어 있으며, mercaptide 결합을 통해 Zn, Cd, Cu 등의 금속 원자를 조정합니다.
