Target Information
Gastrokine 1 (GKN1), also known as CA11, is a secreted 185-amino-acid protein of the gastrokine family containing a BRICHOS domain and an asn-rich region. GKN1 functions as an antioncogene and is down-regulated in human gastric cancer tissue compared to normal gastric mucosa. It is predominantly expressed in the stomach, co-secreted with mucins, and acts as a signaling growth factor with mitogenic activity, contributing to the maintenance of gastric mucosal integrity.
