This antibody recognizes PCLO (Piccolo), a >400 kDa multidomain protein expressed mainly in the presynaptic cytoplasmic matrix of neurons.
Target Information
The PCLO gene encodes a protein that is part of the presynaptic cytoskeletal matrix, playing a role in establishing active synaptic zones and synaptic vesicle trafficking. Variations in this gene have been linked to bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
