Product Specific Information

The GK1.5 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD4, a 55 kDa surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, mature T-cell subsets, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and is crucial for T-cell development and function.

Binding of GK1.5 is blocked by RM4-5. Each product includes one vial of NovaFluor conjugate and one vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer.

NovaFluor dyes are incompatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., PI, 7-AAD, DAPI). Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains instead.

This conjugate ships with CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01), which improves staining performance. Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails prior to cell mixing.

NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton™ technology, based on engineered nucleic acid dye structures that minimize spectral spillover.

Internal testing indicates that NovaFluor Yellow 590 may non-specifically stain B cells in SJL mice, but not in BALB/c or C57BL/6 strains.

Target Information

CD4 is a co-receptor for MHC class II recognition and HIV binding, primarily expressed on T helper cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues. CD4 assists in T-cell activation through interaction with Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.

Multiple splice variants of CD4 have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
