Target Information
The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process triggered by factors that recognize transcriptional enhancer sites in DNA. These factors collaborate with co-activators to initiate transcription via the RNA polymerase II apparatus. The encoded protein is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex and also part of other multisubunit complexes such as thyroid hormone receptor (TR)-associated proteins. It contains a bipartite nuclear localization signal and escapes chromosome X-inactivation.
