Target Information

The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process triggered by factors recognizing transcriptional enhancer sites in DNA. These factors cooperate with co-activators to direct transcriptional initiation by the RNA polymerase II complex. The encoded protein is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex and also participates in other multisubunit complexes such as thyroid hormone receptor-associated proteins (TRAP). It facilitates TR function on DNA templates in conjunction with initiation factors and cofactors. This protein contains a bipartite nuclear localization signal and escapes chromosome X-inactivation.
