Target Information
FOXP1 belongs to subfamily P of the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family. These transcription factors regulate tissue- and cell type-specific gene transcription during development and adulthood. FOXP1 protein contains DNA-binding and protein-protein interaction domains and may act as a tumor suppressor, being lost in several tumor types. It maps to chromosome 3p14.1, a region associated with tumor suppressor genes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
