Target Information
MettL7B belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily and is a probable methyltransferase. Methyltransferases transfer a methyl group from a donor to an acceptor, often occurring on nucleic bases in DNA or amino acids in proteins. DNA methylation can regulate gene expression without altering the DNA sequence and is essential for normal embryonic development in mammals. Aberrant methylation of tumor suppressor genes may contribute to cancer development, promoting tumorigenesis and metastasis.
