Target Information
The RAP1A gene encodes a member of the RAS-related protein family. These proteins share ~50% amino acid identity with classical RAS proteins and have similar structural features. The key difference is at position 61, where glutamine in RAS is replaced by threonine in RAP proteins. RAP1A counteracts RAS mitogenic function by competitively interacting with RAS GAPs and RAF. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
