Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta), establishing an antiviral state. STING may also function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and mediating apoptotic signaling through MHC-II association. It detects intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, and activates ERK pathway-mediated death signaling. STING is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is broadly expressed across tissues.
