Product Specific Information
MA1-40319 detects TLR2 from human samples.
It has been successfully used in immunofluorescence and flow cytometry applications.
The MA1-40319 immunogen is a proprietary sequence.
Target Information
TLR2 (Toll-like receptor 2) is a member of the TLR family that plays a key role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity.
TLR2 acts through adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP to activate kinases and transcription factors including PKC alpha/beta and NF-kappa-B.
It can form heterodimers with TLR1 or TLR6 to recognize bacterial and mycoplasma lipoproteins.
TLRs are conserved from Drosophila to humans and show distinct expression patterns.
TLR2 is highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and mediates responses to Gram-positive bacteria and yeast via NF-kappaB activation.
It recognizes pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and induces cytokine production for immune response development.
Human TLR2 is expressed in tonsils, microglia, lymph nodes, appendices, and activated B-cells in germinal centers.
CD14+ monocytes express the highest TLR2 levels, followed by CD15+ granulocytes, CD19+ B-cells, and CD3+ T-cells.
Expression is regulated by immune modifiers: LPS, GM-CSF, IL-1, and IL-10 upregulate TLR2, while IL-4, IFN-gamma, and TNF downregulate its expression in monocytes.
