Target Information
The protein encoded by the NTF3 gene is a member of the neurotrophin family that controls survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons. It is closely related to nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This protein may be involved in maintenance of the adult nervous system and neuronal development in the embryo. NTF3-deficient mice show severe limb movement defects. The mature peptide is identical across mammals including human, pig, rat, and mouse.
