Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed kinases involved in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic cellular functions.
These kinases are activated by various stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands.
Upon activation, the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling cascade leads to phosphorylation of ERK1/2, which subsequently targets cytoplasmic and nuclear substrates including transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
