Target Information
GSDMD (Gasdermin-D) promotes pyroptosis in response to microbial infection and danger signals. It is cleaved by inflammatory caspases (CASP1 or CASP4) in response to canonical and non-canonical inflammasome activators. After cleavage, GSDMD translocates to the plasma membrane, binding strongly to inner leaflet lipids such as phosphatidylinositol phosphates, phosphatidic acid, and phosphatidylserine. GSDMD also exhibits bactericidal activity.
