Target Information
NALP proteins are cytoplasmic proteins forming a subfamily within the larger CATERPILLER family. They play a crucial role in cell proliferation and reproduction.
NALP12 (Monarch-1) contains:
- C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region
- N-terminal Pyrin domain (PYD)
- NACHT domain and NACHT-associated domain
NALP12 acts as an attenuating factor of inflammation by suppressing NF-kappa-B activation through TLR-signaling molecules (MyD88, IRAK-1, TRAF6, RIPK1) in activated monocytes.
Mutations in NALP12 are linked to hereditary periodic fever syndromes.
