Target Information
The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles. It mediates biosynthetic protein transport from the ER through the Golgi to the trans-Golgi network. The coatomer complex is essential for Golgi-to-ER retrograde transport and influences Golgi integrity, LDL receptor recycling, and lipid homeostasis. It regulates the presence of perilipin family members (PLIN2, PLIN3) and promotes association of PNPLA2 with lipid droplet surfaces to mediate lipolysis.
