Target Information
The Myb family of transcription factors, including A-, B-, and c-Myb, regulates differentiation, cellular growth, and gene transactivation. c-Myb is essential for controlling proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells, with levels decreasing as cells reach terminal differentiation.
Myb-binding protein 1A (MYBBP1A) is a nuclear protein localized mainly in nucleoli. Initially identified as a c-Myb-interacting protein, MYBBP1A is ubiquitously expressed and associates with various transcription factors. It interacts with the aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), enhancing transactivation and AhR-dependent gene expression. MYBBP1A also acts as a negative regulator of PPAR gamma coactivator 1 alpha (PGC-1 alpha) through p38 MAPK and functions as a nucleocytoplasmic shuttling protein utilizing CRM1-dependent and independent nuclear export pathways.
