Specifically recognizes an epitope encoded by exons v7–v8 on the variant portion of human CD44.
Standard CD44 (CD44s) lacks the entire variable region and is found mainly in cells of lymphohematopoietic origin.
The multiple isoforms (CD44v; v = variant) contain alternatively spliced exons inserted within the extracellular domain.
Known isoforms include CD44v1–CD44v11.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and some epithelial cells.
It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
CD44 participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
Expression may be upregulated in certain carcinomas, potentially related to metastatic potential.
