Target Information
TULA (T cell ubiquitin ligand, UBASH3A, ubiquitin associated and SH3 domain containing A), also known as STS-2 or CLIP4, is a 661 amino acid protein localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. It contains one SH3 domain and one UBA domain and is highly expressed in thymus, bone marrow, spleen, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
TULA forms homodimers or homo-oligomers that interfere with receptor-type tyrosine kinase degradation, promoting accumulation of activated receptors on the cell surface. It participates in an EGFR- and Cbl-containing complex interacting with ubiquitinated proteins.
The gene encoding TULA is located on human chromosome 21 and may be involved in the pathogenesis of type I diabetes. Multiple isoforms are produced by alternative splicing.
