Target Information
Eukaryotic initiation factor 2B (EIF2B) is a GTP exchange factor essential for protein synthesis, composed of five subunits. The encoded protein is the delta (EIF2B4) subunit. Mutations in this gene are associated with leukoencephalopathy with vanishing white matter (VWM) and ovarioleukodystrophy. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
