Target Information
PSAP is a highly conserved glycoprotein that serves as a precursor for four cleavage products: saposins A, B, C, and D. Each domain of the precursor protein is approximately 80 amino acids long with similar cysteine placements and glycosylation sites. Saposins A–D localize mainly to lysosomes, facilitating the catabolism of glycosphingolipids with short oligosaccharide groups. The precursor exists as both a secretory and membrane protein and exhibits neurotrophic activity.
