Description:
This 9M1-3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human Galectin-9, a member of the galectin family of glycan-binding proteins. It is expressed on activated T helper cells and Foxp3+ T regulatory cells, playing a key role in immune regulation. Interaction with its ligand TIM3 induces apoptosis in Th1 and Th17 cells, inhibits Th17 polarization and IFN-γ expression, and promotes Treg expansion. Galectin-9 expression is also linked to tumor survival and immune evasion, and high expression levels correlate with poor cancer prognosis.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for flow cytometric analysis and functional assays. (Fluorochrome-conjugated 9M1-3 is recommended for intracellular flow cytometry.)

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤1 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell count may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test. Optimize by titration for best performance.

Use in a sterile environment.

0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The encoded protein is an S-type lectin, overexpressed in Hodgkin’s disease tissue, potentially contributing to disease pathogenesis and immunodeficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist for this gene.
