Description:
The MQ2-13A5 antibody reacts with human interleukin-6 (IL-6), a 21–28 kDa cytokine secreted by a variety of cell types.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells.
Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirical determination recommended).

Fluorochrome Information:
PerCP-eFluor® 710 can replace PE-Cy5, PE-Cy5.5, or PerCP-Cy5.5.

• Excitation: 488 nm (Blue laser)
• Emission: 710 nm
• Recommended filter: 685 LP dichroic mirror with 710/40 band pass filter (695/40 alternative acceptable)

Fixation Stability:
Stable with freshly prepared 2% formaldehyde overnight at 4°C. Evaluate for other fixation protocols as needed.

Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine involved in inflammation and B-cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen and is secreted at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, inducing a transcriptional inflammatory response via the IL-6 receptor alpha.
Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with various inflammatory diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and COVID-19 infection.
