Claudin superfamily는 인간에서 구조적으로 유사한 여러 단백질로 구성되어 있으며, Claudin 1~18을 포함합니다. 이들은 세포 간 수송을 조절하는 tight junction의 구조적 및 기능적 핵심 요소로 작용합니다. Claudin 단백질은 상피 및 내피 세포에 존재하며, 네 개의 transmembrane 도메인과 두 개의 extracellular loop을 포함하여 tight junction strand를 형성합니다.
