This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PTPRU.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
PTPRU is a receptor-type PTP with an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracellular catalytic domains. The extracellular region includes a MAM domain, Ig-like, and fibronectin type III-like repeats.
It is involved in cell-cell recognition and adhesion. Mouse studies suggest its role in early neural development. Expression is regulated by phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) or calcium ionophore in Jurkat T lymphoma cells.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.
