Antibody detects endogenous levels of total CDK8.
Target Information
CDK8 phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. This protein is coexpressed and copurified with Cyclin C. CDK8 belongs to the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) family, which regulates cell cycle progression. The prototype member, p34/Cdc2, and related Cdk2 function late in the cycle, while Cdk4 and Cdk6 are involved in G1 to S progression. Human Cdk8–Cyclin C complex may interact with RNA polymerase, influencing transcription mechanisms related to cell division.
