Reconstitution:
Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to bring contents to the bottom. Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water containing 0.1% human serum albumin. Apportion the reconstituted protein into working aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Make further dilutions in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution containing a carrier protein (e.g., heat-inactivated FCS or tissue culture grade BSA).
Storage:
Store the lyophilized protein at ≤ -20°C, preferably desiccated. Upon reconstitution, apportion into working aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Target Information
Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are secreted signaling molecules that induce ectopic bone growth. Many BMPs belong to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. BMPs were first identified by their ability to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. BMP7, expressed early in embryogenesis, has a proposed role in early development and may have bone inductive activity similar to BMP5 and BMP6.
