Target Information
FBJ murine osteosarcoma viral oncogene homolog (c-Fos) is a cellular proto-oncogene belonging to the fos transcription factor family and encoded by the C-FOS gene located on chromosome 14.
c-Fos forms a heterodimer with c-Jun to create the Activator Protein-1 (AP-1) transcription factor, which regulates genes involved in cellular signal transduction, proliferation, and differentiation.
It is phosphorylated by various stimuli, including growth factors and insulin, at multiple sites. The ERK MAPK kinase phosphorylates c-Fos at Threonine 232, controlling its nuclear localization and transcriptional activity.
