Target Information
TAB182 (tankyrase 1-binding protein of 182 kDa) was identified in a two-hybrid screen as a tankyrase 1-interacting protein.
Tankyrase 1 is a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) that ribosylates TRF1, a negative regulator of telomere length.
Ribosylation of TRF1 inhibits its binding and induces telomere elongation.
TAB182 and TRF1 bind multiple overlapping sites on the tankyrase 1 ankyrin domain, suggesting TAB182 acts as a scaffold for higher-order protein complex formation at telomeres.
TAB182 also localizes to the cytoplasmic cortical actin network, indicating a potential cytoplasmic role.
