Target Information
Gastrokine 1 (GKN1, also known as CA11) is a 185 amino acid secreted protein belonging to the gastrokine family, characterized by a BRICHOS domain and an asparagine-rich region. GKN1 functions as an antioncogene and is reported to be down-regulated in human gastric cancer tissue compared to normal gastric mucosa. It is predominantly expressed in the stomach and co-secreted with mucins, acting as a signaling growth factor with mitogenic activity that may contribute to maintaining gastric mucosal integrity.
