Target Information

The 26S proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex with a highly ordered structure composed of two complexes: a 20S core and a 19S regulator.
The 20S core consists of four rings with 28 non-identical subunits (two rings of seven alpha subunits and two rings of seven beta subunits).
The 19S regulator includes a base (six ATPase subunits and two non-ATPase subunits) and a lid (up to ten non-ATPase subunits).
Proteasomes are abundant in eukaryotic cells and cleave peptides in an ATP/ubiquitin-dependent, non-lysosomal pathway.
A modified proteasome, the immunoproteasome, processes class I MHC peptides.
This gene encodes a protein that inhibits proteasome activation by 11S and 19S regulators.
Alternative transcript variants have been identified for this gene.
