This antibody detects endogenous levels of VHL only when phosphorylated at Ser68.
Target Information
Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL) is a dominantly inherited familial cancer syndrome that predisposes individuals to various malignant and benign tumors. Germline mutations in the VHL gene are responsible for familial inheritance of VHL syndrome. The encoded protein forms part of a complex with elongin B, elongin C, and cullin-2, exhibiting ubiquitin ligase E3 activity. It mediates ubiquitination and degradation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF), a transcription factor central to oxygen-regulated gene expression. RNA polymerase II subunit POLR2G/RPB7 has also been identified as a target. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
