이 유전자는 폐 저항성 관련 단백질인 Major Vault Protein(MVP)을 암호화합니다. Vault는 핵-세포질 수송에 관여하는 다중 소단위체 구조로, 약물 내성에 관여할 수 있습니다. MVP는 정상 조직에 널리 분포하며, 다약제 내성 암세포에서 과발현되어 임상적 약물 내성의 유용한 지표로 활용될 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 두 가지 대체 엑손 2 서열을 사용하여 두 전사체를 생성하지만, 두 전사체 모두 동일한 개방 읽기틀(ORF)을 가집니다.
