This antibody specifically reacts with Histone H4 acetylated at Lysine 8 (K8ac) and shows no cross-reactivity with other acetylated lysines in Histone H4.

Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of eukaryotic chromosomal fibers. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped, forming nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and helps compact chromatin into higher-order structures.
The histone H4 gene is intronless, lacks polyA tails, and contains a palindromic termination element. It is located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
