Target Information
Prolactin (PRL) is a pituitary hormone involved in milk production, salt and water regulation, growth, development, and reproduction. PRL acts through a transmembrane prolactin receptor (PRLR), a member of the cytokine receptor family. PRLR exists in short and long forms (approximately 40–100 kDa) depending on tissue and species. It comprises three domains: an extracellular region with five cysteines containing the prolactin binding site, a single transmembrane domain, and a cytoplasmic region that influences ligand binding and cellular function.
