Product Specific Information

Osteopontin antibody is directed against human osteopontin. It recognizes the full-length osteopontin protein (66 kDa) and C-terminal fragments of thrombin- and MMP-cleaved OPN. The 32 kDa MMP-cleaved C-fragment is recognized, but not the 40 kDa N-terminal fragment. Reactivity occurs with osteopontin from swine, dog, mouse, and rat.
Target Information
Osteopontin is an arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD)-containing glycoprotein interacting with integrins and CD44. It plays roles in bone mineralization, cell adhesion, migration, chronic inflammatory disease, and transformation. Proteolytic cleavage near the RGD sequence modulates its integrin-binding properties. Thrombin-cleaved fragments are overexpressed in malignant glial tumors, contributing to cell survival and providing substrates for plasmin and cathepsin D.
