Target Information

The ERBB2 (neu/HER2) oncogene is a key predictor of patient outcomes and therapeutic response in breast cancer. C35 (C17orf37) is a novel tumor biomarker highly expressed in breast cancer. The C35 gene is located on chromosome 17q12, approximately 505 nucleotides from the 3′ end of the ERBB2 oncogene, which encodes the antigenic target for trastuzumab (Herceptin) therapy. The chromosomal arrangement of C35 and ERBB2 genes is tail-to-tail. The ORF37 open reading frame encodes a 12-kDa protein of unknown function.
