Target Information

The APC gene encodes a tumor suppressor protein that antagonizes the Wnt signaling pathway.
It also participates in cell migration, adhesion, transcriptional activation, and apoptosis.
Mutations in this gene cause familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), an autosomal dominant pre-malignant condition that can progress to malignancy.
Disease-associated mutations are often clustered in the mutation cluster region (MCR), resulting in truncated protein products.
