Target Information
NME4 is a protein kinase that transfers a phosphate group from a donor molecule, typically the γ-phosphate of ATP, to an acceptor amino acid residue in a substrate protein. This phosphorylation mechanism mediates most signal transduction processes in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal organization, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family, with over 500 gene products, is one of the largest in eukaryotes and is categorized into eight major groups based on sequence similarity of their catalytic domains. The AGC kinase group includes 63 kinases such as PKA, PKG, PKC, Akt, ARK, and RSK families.
