Target Information

Cannabinoids exert their physiological effects through two G protein-coupled receptors, CB1 and CB2.
Both receptors inhibit adenylyl cyclase and stimulate MAPK signaling.
CB1 receptors also modulate ion channels via G-protein interactions, while CB2 primarily functions in the immune system.
Although mainly immune-associated, CB2 may also be expressed in the central nervous system, including the retina.
