Target Information
JAM3 (Junctional Adhesion Molecule C) is involved in tight junction formation, contributing to cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial and endothelial cell layers. It forms continuous seals around cells, serving as a barrier to solute and water passage through the paracellular space.
This protein is localized in tight junctions between high endothelial cells and, unlike other family members, does not adhere to leukocyte cell lines and forms only weak homotypic interactions. JAM3 acts as a receptor for other members of the junctional adhesion molecule family.
