Target Information
JAM3 is involved in tight junction formation and mediates cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial and endothelial cell layers. It forms continuous seals around cells, serving as a barrier to solutes and water in the paracellular space. The encoded protein is localized in tight junctions between high endothelial cells. Unlike other junctional adhesion molecules, JAM3 does not adhere to leukocyte cell lines and forms weak homotypic interactions. It functions as a receptor for another junctional adhesion molecule family member.
