Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, and individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages include:
- Improved specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
The sarcoglycan transmembrane proteins are part of the dystrophin complex. Sarcoglycans form a membrane-associated complex in skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle fibers.
Four sarcoglycan subunits—alpha, beta, gamma, and delta—form the skeletal muscle cell surface complex. Mutations in any of these genes lead to loss or reduction of the entire sarcoglycan complex, causing autosomal recessive muscular dystrophy (sarcoglycanopathy).
In smooth muscle, beta- and delta-sarcoglycans associate with epsilon-sarcoglycan, homologous to alpha-sarcoglycan. Delta-sarcoglycan deficiency is linked to Syrian hamster BIO.14 cardiomyopathy.
