Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are composed of three major subunits: NF-L (light), NF-M (medium), and NF-H (heavy).
- NF-L (~70 kDa) is the light or low molecular weight subunit.
- NF-H (180–220 kDa) is the heavy or high molecular weight subunit.
These proteins are involved in maintaining neuronal caliber and are developmentally regulated.
