Target Information
TAB3 functions in the NF-kappaB signal transduction pathway. It forms a ternary complex with TAK1 and either TRAF2 or TRAF6 in response to TNF or IL-1 stimulation. TAK1 kinase activity subsequently activates the NF-kappaB transcription factor.
TAB2 and TAB3 interact with the autophagy mediator Beclin-1; upon induction of autophagy, they dissociate from Beclin-1 and bind TAK1. Overexpression of TAB2/TAB3 inhibits autophagy, while depletion triggers it, suggesting their role as control points for autophagy.
