Target Information

Peripherin (PRPH) is a 57 kDa type III intermediate filament protein serving as a specific marker for peripheral neurons, including enteric ganglion cells.
It is expressed in the developing peripheral nervous system and is highly enriched in neuronal derivatives of the neural crest.
Compared to other neural markers (e.g., S100, NSE), peripherin does not stain chromaffin cell types, making it a more specific neuronal marker.
