Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an epitope within the N-terminal (extracellular) portion of CD235a (glycophorin A) and CD235b (glycophorin B).
Its antigen is expressed on early erythroblasts, late erythroblasts, mature erythrocytes, and erythroid cell lines such as K562 and HEL, but not on other cell types.
Target Information
CD235a (Glycophorin A, GPA) is a single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein expressed in mature erythrocytes and erythroid precursor cells.
It carries blood group M and N specificities and contributes to minimizing aggregation between red blood cells in circulation.
CD235a also acts as a receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, and Hsa, a Streptococcus adhesin.
