Target Information
Syntrophin alpha-1 (SNTA1) is a large, rod-like cytoskeletal protein located at the inner surface of muscle fibers. It associates with dystrophin and dystrophin-related proteins. Dystrophin deficiency is observed in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and reduced levels occur in Becker Muscular Dystrophy. SNTA1 belongs to the syntrophin gene family, which includes at least two other structurally related genes.
